READY, SET, ACT!

Our 1:1 Sessions

For the actor

Whether one is a proponent of the Stanislavski System or the Meisner Technique when you get right down to it, an actor is either believable or not.

I coach both the professional and budding professional. I can help you hone the Actor’s Tools of Voice, Body and Imagination. Through vocal exercises, character analysis, scene study and monologue coaching, I will prepare you create and sustain believable performances and memorable auditions.

*NOTE A memorable audition doesn’t mean that you will get a callback or the role, it means however that you have made such a positive impression on the casting person that they will pass your name on and/or call you in when there is a role they feel you are right for.

For the playwright

My approach to playwriting is grounded in how I came to be a writer in the first place. I came to playwriting by having a natural ability to “make up stuff”, so much to the point that people believed me. I then began writing poetry, then stand-up comedy which later turned into stories populated with numerous characters to move those stories along.

I believe that if you can talk, you can write. At its core, a play is a story told through the mouths of its varied characters. I teach my students to write with an Actor’s ear for dialogue, a director’s vision for how it will play out on stage, a producer’s mind of how to make your story economically feasible, and finally a writer’s sense of the fantastic. I will help my students find their own unique voice to the stories that matter to them. As I have always suggested to my playwriting students you must become your first audience. I’ll admit my approach is not for EVERYBODY…but I’m not everybody and neither are YOU!
